Sagalasos - Salda

Description of the tour

In the ancient city of Sagalassos, you can fully enjoy the silence and bewitching mountain landscapes, wander among the ancient Roman ruins and feel the connection with history. An unforgettable trip to Lake Salda will be an excellent addition to the tour. The water is bright blue and the coastline is strikingly similar to the seashore in the Maldives. Great place to relax with children.

Ancient city of Sagalassos

He was lost high in the mountains on the border of the modern provinces of Turkey - Isparta and Burdur. During construction, the streets of the city were paved with massive stone slabs, and such “setting stones” have survived quite well to this day. The stone for the porphyry columns that adorn the functioning fountain in the central square was brought from Egypt itself. The quality and precision of openwork stone carving is amazing to this day. The bas-reliefs on the territory of Sagalassos that have survived to this day are excellent examples of ancient art.

On the central square of the city, you will admire the Antonina Fountain, which is still in operation. It was built in Roman times over 1800 years ago. You will be amazed by the ancient amphitheater, where sports competitions and gladiator fights were held. Find out why as early as 3000 BC. e., the people who lived at that time found this place very suitable for life, despite the mountainous terrain. I will tell you what the ancient city of Sagalassos has to do with Alexander the Great and when it flourished. You will be amazed to learn the reason for what ended the prosperity of the once capital of the Roman province of Galatia.

Lake Salda

Along the way, you will enjoy fantastic mountain panoramas and hear interesting facts about the lake. The locals call it the "Turkish Maldives". The water here is bright blue, and the coastline is strikingly similar to the seashore in the Maldives. A great place to relax with children, because shallow water warms up to +30 degrees, and kids can splash in it for hours.

Rest on the turquoise lake Salda and a trip to the ancient city of Sagalassos will remain in your heart and in the photo forever, and I will do everything to make it comfortable and memorable!
